A. DETERGENT (SURFACTANTS)


Keep in mind:- detergent % in shampoo should be less than 30%
1.a. What is the work of DETERGENT  in the shampoo?


  • Work of detergent is to wash away oils, dust & sebum from your hair.
  • Detergents are surfactants 
  • Normal water cannot remove oil, dirt etc from hair because water cannot lower surface tension of these particles 
  • But detergents can do this easily. They lower the surface tension of the molecule of oil, dust & dirt. As a result, your hair becomes free from oil, dirt & dust after applying shampoo.
 If you want deep cleansing then rinse hair properly after applying shampoo
 1.b. What are the detergent ingredients present in the shampoo?




  • Chemicals like sodium laureth sulfate (SLSE), ammonium laureth sulfate (ALS), sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) act as a detergent in the shampoo.
  • They help in breaking the bond between hair & dust.
  • If their concentration becomes more in shampoo then it can make your hair harsh. (hair become dry)
  • These surfactants create foam but it is not enough for shampoo companies to earn money.
  • That is why they add extra foam generating chemicals to shampoos
    Between ALS ,SLES & SLS always choose ALS. Because it is less dangerous Due to its bigger molecular size.

    B.. FOAM/LATHER (foaming agents)

    Keep in mind: foam should be less than 5%

    SHOULD I USE CONDITIONER BEFORE OR AFTER SHAMPOOING?

    Many hair specialists saying it is ok to use conditioner before bath. But they are not completely true.
    You apply conditioner to keep hair moisturized but if you apply conditioner before shampooing then it will wash away conditioner  from hair

    6. WHAT SHAMPOO IS GOOD FOR ROUGH USAGE?


    1. Rough usages shampoos should not irritants (skin, scalp or eye)
    2. Never use sulfur-related chemicals for rough usage. It can damage your hair fibers

    1. Never use primary sulfur. Always use secondary sulfur or low concentrated primary sulfur.

    8.  WHAT SHAMPOO TO USE FOR DANDRUFF?

      1. Minerals are good against dandruff.

      4. Buy shampoo that contains acids like salicylic acid, citric acid
