HOW TO CHOOSE BEST PHONE THAT SUITS YOU PERFECTLY

BEST  SMARTPHONE BUYING GUIDE

HELP ME CHOOSE A SMARTPHONE

STEP 1: CHOOSE A PHONE THAT SUITS YOUR BUDGET

There are varieties of phones from varieties of companies at varieties of the price. That is why you need to choose the best one that suits your budget.

Cheap phones are not good for a long run but you will lose interest from your expensive phones after a few months.

That is why you should never buy an expensive or cheap phone. Buy a mid-range phone.

Mid-range phones have better features than expensive phones & they last for more days.

  1. Instead of going for iPhone you should go for SAMSUNG, SONY, HTC, XIAOMI,1PLUS etc.
  2. Phone companies like MI, 1plus provide better quality at a lower price
  3. If you are from the middle class then never buy iPhone to show off. Because you cannot afford the new one when the current one becomes old.

STEP:2 CHOOSE A BEST OPERATING SYSTEM FOR YOUR PHONE

Android has AOS (android operating system), iPhone has IOS (iPhone operating system), JIO has KAIOS (kai operating system) etc.

LIST OF ALL OPERATING SYSTEM (SECURE TO VULNERABLE)
There are so many operating systems other than above. You have to choose the best operating system for your phone

  1. The Android operating system is an open platform whereas IOS is a closed platform
  2. Open source means more visibility more options & expandable but IOS is the exact opposite of this.
  3. If you are a businessman or a sensible person who prefer security over any other things then you should buy an iPhone.
  4. The Internet is a bad guy. It can viral your sensitive photos, videos, documents  that is why you need a platform that secures your privacy
  5. Apple is best in terms of security whereas Android is vulnerable to bad guys of the internet (hackers)
  6. If you are rich enough to afford multiple phones then I will recommend you to buy iPhone for sensitive works & buy an android phone for other works.

STEP:3 SECURE PHONE COMPANIES

There are more than 500 phone companies in the world but still, only a few mobile companies like Apple, Samsung, google, sony, htc etc talk about security.

Apple is a secure phone company because it provides free version updates to its all users.

Whereas android manufacturing companies rarely provide any version updates to its users.
Android phone makers rarely care about security updates. That is why android phone companies are not secure.

  • If you love to feel secure all the time then choose IOS
  • Alternatively, you can use phones from famous android manufacturers like GOOGLE PIXEL, SONY & SAMSUNG.

STEP: 4:  WEIGHT OF THE PHONE

Less weight = more comfortable. Ideal phone weight is 170-180gram or less.

That is why you need to choose a phone less than   170-180gram.

Why you should choose a lightweight phone?
  • Because lightweight phones last longer than heavyweight phone
  • You will feel more comfortable while handling a lightweight phone
  • You will feel more comfortable while carrying a lightweight phone in the shirt or pant pocket.

STEP: 5: BATTERY CAPACITY OF THE PHONE

If it is a keypad phone then you should choose 2000mAh
But if it is a screen touch then never satisfy yourself below 3000mAh.

If you choose a phone which has more RAM (4 GB or more) then you should choose a phone which has a battery capacity of more than 3500mAh.

If your phone has more RAM then you have to choose a phone with more Battery capacity

  • More battery capacity means your phone will release more heat
  • It can be fatal if your phone with more battery capacity blasts.
  • If possible choose a phone which has a Li-po battery.
  • Li-Po is less fatal as compared Li-ion battery

STEP:6: SAR OF THE PHONE (SPECIFIC ABSORPTION RATE)

Safest SAR value is 1.6 Watts per kilogram. You should buy a phone which has less SAR value
SAR can be dangerous in a long term.

HOW TO SAVE YOURSELF FROM FROM RADIATION?
  • Radiation becomes more when there is a poor net connection. That is why it is recommended to not use the internet when your internet is slow.
  • Keep distance from your phone when it is not necessary.
  • Especially keep the phone away from your head portion
  • During talking on the phone never forget to use an earphone.
  • Keep your phone in AIRPLANE MODE when it is not necessary.

STEP:7: SCREEN SIZE

The 6-inch screen is the trending screen size of the current generation. Big screen size = more comfortable in using but you will face problems during handling.

  • If you are going to use phone alone/ personal usage then buy a bigger screen size
  • If you are buying a phone for small children or multiple users or if your friends, cousins going to use your phone then you should choose a smaller screen size (5.5 inches)

STEP:8: SCREEN RESOLUTION

Screen resolution means how many pixels a phone can fit on the screen. More screen resolution it can fit more information/pixels on the screen

  • Buy a phone which has a higher screen resolution
  • Screen resolution depends on the screen size of the phone (bigger screen =  more number of pixels can fit inside it)
Example:- When you change the quality of video 720p to 360p your videos become blur due to the  loss in the quality of the video.

<img src="teaching-through-youtube-pic.png" alt="using yooutube video screenshot to show how screen resolution works?">
the video becomes a blur when you choose a low-quality option

PPI (PIXEL PER INCH) OR PPCM (PIXEL PER CENTIMETER)
SCREEN RESOLUTION

Higher PPI/PPCM is better for your phone
PPI indicates the quality of the image or video. The more PPI the better image or video quality.

You should choose a phone which PPI more than 200.(more is better) & less than 700

STEP:9: DISPLAY TYPE

HOW TO CHOOSE A PHONE

Modern smartphones have displays like TFT, IPS, OLED, AMOLED, SUPER AMOLED, RETINA, TACTILE/HAPTIC touch screens.

Among the above display types Super AMOLED (Also known as OPTIC AMOLED), RETINA DISPLAY & TACTILE DISPLAY are the best.

Some mobile companies change the name of the display to show it is different from original display types.

For example, some mobile manufacturer present super AMOLED as optic AMOLED to show it is different than super AMOLED    display.

display types & best display for your phone or TV

STEP:10: PROCESSOR TYPE

The most famous processor making company is QUALCOMM. This company is famous for its Snapdragon processor.

Benefits of snapdragon are it consumes less battery & generates less heat.
The bad part of the Snapdragon chip is it is expensive.

  • The latest processor in the Android phone is SNAPDRAGON 845 (I will update when the LATEST version of Snapdragon will come to the market)
  • Among dual core, quad core & octa-core processor octa-core is best (more means better)

Apple has a better performing processor than android phones. APPLE's bionic chip A12  is the fastest processor in the world.

STEP :11: GRAPHICS/GRAPHICS CARD/ GPU (GRAPHICS PROCESSING UNIT)

Graphics increases the acceleration of the phone by reducing RAM usage. Your phone works faster due to graphics.

If you are a heavy gamer then your phone or laptop needs a graphics card

Currently, ADRENO 530 GPU is the latest version in the mobile graphics world (WILL UPDATE THE LATEST ADRENO VERSION SOON)

STEP:12: RAM & ROM

Latest mobile phones providing RAM up to  8GB & ROM up to 128 GB.

You should buy a phone with more RAM but never buy a phone with more ROM (example 128GB)

  • When there are less internal space mobile users regularly clean the caches, unnecessary apps, videos, photos from internal memory
  • But due to increased internal memory users care less about space. They keep many unnecessary apps, videos, file etc which can be dangerous in a long-term
  • Because there are so many spy apps which  steal data from you & you should never keep them for a long time
  • More internal space forces you to download movies, songs, porns from unauthorized fake websites that are only mean to enter your mobile through virus you download from their site.
  • That is why I am advising you to choose a phone which has less internal storage

STEP:13: ANTENNA /SIGNAL STRENGTH

99.9% of people never talk about this part of a phone. This is the most important part while choosing a phone for the faster internet.

No one talking about ANTENNA. The most vital part of a mobile phone.
  • Antenna plays a big role in the internet speed & signal strength of a phone
  • Most of the phone manufacturer never talk openly about the antenna.

  • Signal strength is measured in dBm (decibel milliwatts)
  • Generally, signal strength is represented in '-ve sign' (for example, -80dBm,-50dBm,-100dBm etc..)
  • Less dBm means more signal strength. More signal strength is good for your you. (for example between -100dBm & -50dBm , -50dBm will give your phone  more signal strength)
  • You can check your phone signal strength by going SETTING>ABOUT>STATUS>SIGNAL STRENGTH
  • Next time buy a phone which has a good signal strength to avoid call drop, network related problems

STEP:14: CUSTOMER CARE

Maybe that mobile is cheap & working fine. Who knows about the future of that phone. Even some  Apple phones start malfunctioning within a few months of buying.

When your phone needs to be repaired you need to take it to the nearest customer service center for that phone company.

You will feel frustrated at that time when you will find no customer care center of your cheap or nameless company.
  • Never buy a phone because it is cheap
  • Before buying a phone check if it has a customer care center near your reach.
  • Even if it is a branded company never buy from that company if there is no customer care company near your place.

STEP:15: SIM CARD & EXPANDABLE MEMORY

Latest phones come with both SIMS supporting 4G SIMS. A few years ago only SIM1 used to support 4G SIM.

  • Before buying a phone check if its both SIM1 & SIM2 support latest generation network (5G,4G or 3G)
  • Prefer a phone which has a system to insert SIMS & SD card in the edge of the phone (instead of opening the back cover of the phone)
EXPANDABLE MEMORY:-

Latest phones provide enough internal memory on their phones. No need to insert an extra SD card in your phone

  • Apple is more secure than Android because it has no place for expandable memory
  • If you insert Expandable memory (SD card) from an unknown source (containing malicious things) then your phone will be affected by the virus.
  • That is why It will be worthy to choose a phone without any expandable memory.
  • But the choice is yours.

STEP:16: SPEAKER

Mobile manufacturers never talk about speakers. Because currently, it is not possible to add great speakers to the phone.

  1. Bigger speaker driver size not equal to the good sound quality
  2. Dolby is a famous mobile speaker manufacturing company.

 STEP: 17: NETWORK TYPES

Phones use CDMA (CODE DIVISION MULTIPLE ACCESS), GSM (GLOBAL SYSTEM FOR MOBILE COMMUNICATION), LTE (LONG TERM EVOLUTION), VoLTE (VOICE OVER LTE), HSPA (HIGH-SPEED PACKET ACCESS)

    • After the entry of 4GLTE, there is no major difference between CDMA & GSM.
    • GSM is the most widely used the network (used in more than 210 countries)
    • Whereas CDMA primarily used in the USA, SOUTH KORE & RUSSIA
    • VoLTE is better than LTE due to its video & voice quality
  • 2G uses Frequency bands like 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz & 1900Mhz
  • 3G uses Frequency bands like  800MHz,900MHz, 1700MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz & 2100MHz
  • 4G uses Frequency bands like 700MHz, 800MHZ, 850MHz, 900MHz, 1700MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz, 2100MHz, 2300MHz, 2600MHz.

Next time while buying a phone check if it supports these frequencies or not.

STEP:18: CAMERA

Hi, DUMBS of Wasseypur & Megapixel lovers.

Does megapixel of a phone matters? Should you buy a phone which has a higher megapixel? Is high megapixel is equal to better photo quality?

  • Megapixel in a phone is useless most of the times.
  • The work of megapixel is to consume more internal storage of your phone.
  • Photo size becomes big in a HIGH MB (megabyte) CAMERA but quality never of photo never improves.
  • WORK OF MEGAPIXEL IN THE CAMERA is to zoom the photo without any crack (blur).
  • More megapixel means better viewing quality even after zooming a pic multiple times.
  • Lens quality also matters
  • Finally, choose a phone which is capable of capturing photos in the low light

HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST CAMERA PHONE?

  • Say no to MP (megapixel)
  • The aperture of the camera matters a lot. Buy a camera phone which has less aperture (f/1.8)
  • Sensor quality of the camera. The sensor of the camera plays an important role in capturing crystal clear images.
  • Your phone camera sensor size should between 1/2.3 inch to 1/3 inch for the  best photography
  • BSI (back side illuminated) CMOS sensor is better than a standard CMOS sensor.
  • Choose a phone which has a bulkier lens (You can use an external lens for the better photo)

SOME ADDITIONAL FEATURES YOUR PHONE CAMERA SHOULD CONTAIN

  1. Autofocus
  2. ISO
  3. Optical Zoom
  4. touch focus
  5. smile detection
  6. FPS (FRAMES PER SECOND). It means how many photos a camera can capture in 1 second. (more fps is better)

STEP:20: SPECIAL FEATURES IN PHONE

Phones must contain some special features like

1. WI-FI  (I will update when the latest version of  WIFI & BLUETOOTH come to the market)

Your phone wifi version should be latest. 802.11AC is the latest version in the wifi world. B/G/N is older versions in the wifi world.

2. BLUETOOTH

Currently, Bluetooth 5.0 is the latest version in the market

3.INFRA-RED

Your TV & TV remote work on the basis of infrared.

Infrared is the old connectivity technology used in mobiles. Two mobiles need to stay near the reach of hand in order to transfer data using infrared.

  1. There are so many apps available in the app store that claims to work as TV REMOTE after installing it in your phone.
  2. But your phone needs to have an infra-red. (not all phone contains infrared)
  3. Most of the tv remote apps are fake. Only a few genuine apps work if your phone has infrared.

4. COMPASS/ MAGNETOMETER

We rarely use it. But it can help you find the directions. (north-south)

5. ACCELEROMETER

Your phone rotates whenever you want to rotate the screen. It happens due to the accelerometer.

6.GYROSCOPE

Accelerometer helps in the orientation of the phone but the gyroscope helps in maintain & measure that orientation.

For example:- when you rotate from landscape to portrait screen stays in the portrait mode unless you change it by clicking on the button (MAINTAIN)

When you change the landscape to portrait  screen fits your display size perfectly (MEASURE)

7.PROXIMITY

Proximity sensor uses infrared to detect your ear.

When you attach your ear to the phone while talking, proximity sensor does its work by closing the screen to avoid unnecessary touches by your cheek.
