1. HOW TO CHOOSE A SHUTTLECOCK FOR YOU?

There are mainly 3 types of shuttlecocks can be found in the market. 1. FEATHER SHUTTLECOCK 2.PLASTIC SHUTTLECOCK 3.NYLON SHUTTLECOCK
Feather shuttlecocks are expensive and only used to play tournaments.
Nylon shuttlecocks are long lasting and known as the best shuttlecock for every type of matches [EXCEPT PROFESSIONAL MATCHES]
The plastic shuttlecock is cheap & long lasting but not good for any player.
If the CAP COLOR OF SHUTTLECOCK IS RED THEN IT IS FASTER AND YOU SHOULD USE IT IN COLDER AREA.
If the CAP COLOR OF THE SHUTTLECOCK IS GREEN THEN IT IS SLOWER AND YOU SHOULD USE IT IN HOT AREA.
If the CAP COLOR OF THE SHUTTLECOCK IS BLUE THEN YOU SHOULD USE IT WHERE TEMPERATURE IS NORMAL.

Advantages:-

It is good for tournament matches.
Players require to spend less energy while playing powerful shots with feather shuttlecock.
It floats less time on air compared to nylon shuttlecock.

c. PLASTIC SHUTTLECOCK

Advantages:-

Disadvantages:-

Floats on the air most of the time.
It is not good for professionals. Only beginners should use plastic shuttlecock.

If the cap of the shuttlecock is red then use this type of shuttlecock in a cold area.
If the cap of the shuttlecock is Green then use this type of shuttlecock where the temperature is high.
If the cap of the shuttlecock is blue then use this type of shuttlecock where the temperature is medium.

You can easily choose a shuttlecock by checking the condition of your area (below sea area/above sea area, hotter area, colder area etc)

SIMPLE RULE:- If your weather is hot then choose a heavy shuttlecock. If your weather is cold then choose lighter shuttlecock.

A shuttlecock weighs around 4.7g to 5.5g.
Due to inaccuracy weight of a shuttlecock is ignored while choosing a shuttlecock.
But in most of the cases, lightweight (below 5g) shuttlecocks used in the places where the temperature is low.

If your indoor playground has a fan then you should choose a heavier one.
If there is no external air movement & room temperature is normal then you can use shuttlecock whose weight is 5g & speed level is below 77.

If you are choosing a shuttlecock for outdoor games then first check the condition of the environment.
If it is winter season then there will be no airflow. If it is summer season then the air will be always ready to disturb your game.
For summer always choose heavy one & for winter always choose the lighter one.

Generally, feather shuttlecocks are for tournaments. If you have feather shuttlecocks then only use it for big matches.
If you use feather shuttlecock in practice matches then it will not last long.
Give some rest to the newly bought shuttlecock.
Experts say newly bought shuttlecock requires some time be fully functional. By giving it some time you can increase its lifespan.
